Why EZ

Powerful routines, without the intimidating dialogs.

PixInsight is deep — and steep. The EZ Processing Suite wraps the routines you reach for most into clear, guided steps. This variant — adapted by Deep Skies and made to run on PixInsight 1.9.4 — builds on the original, first created by S. Dimant and subsequently maintained and distributed by Elveteek Sàrl (MIT License).

The suite

Six tools, one workflow

Each tool does one job well — reach for the one you need, or run them in sequence from acquisition to final image.

EZ Live Stack EZ_LiveStack.js

Watches your capture folder and handles every new sub automatically — calibrate, debayer, register, integrate. Your stack grows live, so you can see where the night is heading while you are still shooting.

EZ Soft Stretch EZ_SoftStretch.js

Takes your linear image into the non-linear domain in controlled steps. Instead of one harsh curve, it eases you to the point where structure appears — without clipping the background or blowing the highlights.

HistogramTransformation

EZ Denoise RistaMask_UI.js

Builds a tailored luminance mask (RistaMask) that protects where there is signal and opens up where there is noise. That lets you smooth the background without dragging fine detail along with it.

CurvesTransformation

EZ Star Reduction EZ_StarReduction.js

Isolates stars with a mask and shrinks them morphologically — dose it to taste, with no dark halos. Nebulae and galaxies get the room they deserve. Generates the star mask with StarNet2 automatically, or takes one you already have.

EZ Decon EZ_Decon.js

Measures the point-spread function from real stars (DynamicPSF) and deconvolves the seeing back out. Support and star masks keep the sharpening where it belongs and hold ringing in check.

EZ HDR EZ_HDR.js

Compresses dynamic range across scales (HDRMultiscaleTransform) and tames the blown-out cores of galaxies and nebulae. Bright centres get their structure back without flattening the whole frame.

Get started & go deeper

Install once from the update repository, then dive into any tool below.

Installation · PixInsight

  1. Add the update repository

    In PixInsight open Resources → Updates → Manage Repositories and add the repo URL below.

  2. Check for updates

    Run Resources → Updates → Check for Updates and install the EZ Processing Suite.

  3. Restart PixInsight

    After restarting, the tools appear under Scripts → EZ Processing Suite.

  4. Remove any old version

    Delete earlier EZ_*.js files in the install directory and restart to avoid duplicates.

Update repository deepskies.space/pixinsight/1.9.4/ez_processing_suite/ Add this in PixInsight under Resources → Updates → Manage Repositories.
